CEEPUS (Central European Exchange Programme for University Studies) is a Central European student and academic staff exchange programme whose headquarters are in Vienna, Austria.
This programme provides opportunities for student and teacher mobility with the main aim of improving education at higher education institutions. CEEPUS offers exchanges in the form of credit mobility, research visits, teaching provision, and so-called summer schools.
The CEEPUS member states are: Austria, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Macedonia, Hungary, Moldavia, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Serbia, Slovenia, Croatia, Montenegro and the Czech Republic.
CEEPUS programme has been extended in 2018, and is planned to last seven years.
The duration of candidate’s mobility is directly linked to the type and category of mobility for which the candidate is applying. In general, CEEPUS allows longer stays of one or two semesters for students in credit mobility, but also short-term stays lasting up to three months, with the aim of conducting research and writing a master’s or a doctoral thesis, as well as so-called short-term excursions such as winter and summer schools (lasting up to 6 days). As regards teaching mobility, it can last for a minimum of five working days with obligatory 6 hours of lecturing or mentoring per week, but the lecturer will often stay as long as one month.
The amount that each country allocates to inward mobility scholarship holders is defined in line with the economic standards of the respective country. In the Republic of Serbia, the monthly scholarship for inward students, graduates and doctoral students amounts to 20,000 RSD per scholarship month, whereas the scholarship for teachers and doctoral students employed at a university amounts to 35,000 RSD per scholarship month; apart from the scholarship, there is a possibility of arranged accommodation in available dormitories, eating at affordable prices in the cafeteria, and using emergency medical aid – comprehensive information regarding different aspects of CEEPUS mobility in Serbia are available in the national general information package
